RDX- Your savior for backup

Data is important for any user. No matter if this data is purely private or if it is business related. Data loss could mean the loss of information which never can be recovered from anywhere. Data loss could happen any time and may have many reasons.
So an automated backup solution should be implemented in any environment. Backups need to be automated, done regularly and after important data has been created. In addition, it is recommended to have several copies on multiple devices or media in different locations.
Tandberg Data‘s RDX QuikStor is a removable disk system which simply attaches to NAS systems via USB. It consists of a drive and a media. The drive is constantly connected to the NAS system, and at least three pieces of media should be applied for alternating usage. The media has a rugged design, it’s reliable, fast, easy-to-use, and tough enough to cope in busy and harsh environments.

The removability of the RDX media allows to implement data protection best practices by rotating cartridges to provide multiple layers of protection. One media would reside in the drive ready for the backup, one media is located offsite at an external location and the third one is on its way either to or from the office. A media rotation scheme with at least three media allows you to meet most disaster protection and compliance requirements.

Why SD-WAN?

With the advent of SaaS (Software as a Service) and Public Cloud it has become crucial for every branch of an organization to be connected to the WAN or the Internet directly.
The current practice of putting up a single Firewall at the Head Office (HQ) and then connecting multitudes of branches to that particular HQ Firewall just isn’t reliable enough anymore due to the increasing demand on bandwidth consumptions and the latency increase as well.

What’s the Solution?
SD-WANs, with the integrated SD-WAN technology in the Barracuda Cloud Gen Firewall. It has become possible for each branch office to be connected with each other and the Internet.

Key components of our SD-WAN include:

1) Ability to route traffic over your existing network connections with support for multiple network technologies including MPLS, Internet broadband, fiber, LTE, and DSL.

2) Automatic failover of network connections.

3) Ability to dynamically change network paths to optimize network traffic loads.

4) Segmentation to automatically priority and route network traffic based on its source or type.

5) A visual management console that lets administrators manage the network from a central location without dealing with physical network connections.

6) Advanced Threat Protection & Malware Protection (Optional).

7) Zero-touch provisioning of new branches and locations.

8) Support for VPNs.

With a pure play SD-WAN vendor you might only get a subset of these features but with Barracuda Cloud Gen Firewall you will get all of these features in a modular format, so you turn on the features and functions you want and leave whatever it is you don’t want. That is a great SD-WAN Solution!

Virus Scanning

With virus scanning enabled, all messages processed by the Barracuda Email Security Gateway are checked for viruses. Detected viruses will not be quarantined or delivered to the intended recipient - even if the message has been whitelisted by a Block/Accept filter.

For protection against advanced malware, zero-day exploits, and targeted attacks not detected by the Barracuda Email Security Gateway virus scanning features, use the subscription-based Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) service when you use the Cloud Protection Layer (CPL).

The ATP service analyzes inbound email attachments in a separate, secured cloud environment, detecting new threats and determining whether to block such messages. For more information on how ATP works, see Advanced Threat Protection.

Barracuda Real-Time Protection provides a way for each Barracuda Email Security Gateway to participate in a worldwide network that reports virus and spam propagation activity at early stages to Barracuda Central. This feature enables real-time comparison with spam and virus fingerprints and intent analysis found URIs that do not match those local to the Barracuda Email Security Gateway to real-time newly detected spam and virus outbreaks logged at Barracuda Central. It also enables you to elect to send new spam and virus variants to Barracuda Central for analysis if they have not yet been classified.

  • When this feature is set to On - Send Virus Variants, attachments are scanned using a real-time database that helps detect virus outbreaks. Barracuda Central may request that a message containing a suspected virus be forwarded for analysis, and this setting will enable forwarding of the message to Barracuda Central.
  • Setting this feature to On - Do Not Sent Virus Variants, messages will be scanned but will not be forwarded to Barracuda Central.
  • Setting this feature to Off disables real-time spam fingerprinting.
