Deep Learning in Sophos Intercept X

In the process of increasing security, everyone is talking about machine learning. Let’s look at what Sophos is bringing to the table with Deep Learning neural networks.
Traditionally, whether a file was malicious or benign is predicted based on two attributes, file size and compression level. The model is trained to differentiate the malicious and benign files based on these two attributes. However, threats are evolving every day. Malicious files look more and more like benign files and hence these two factors are not enough to accurately identify whether a file is malicious. So, if the model is to be efficient, there might no limit to how many attributes can be added to a machine learning model. However, this makes the analysis for the traditional machine learning model more and more complex with the increase of attributes and the model requires too much computational power and memory space which is not practical.
It is here that deep learning comes to the rescue. Deep learning uses neural networks that resembles the complex interconnected pathways of the human brain. Unlike traditional machine learning, Sophos’ deep learning model processes data through multiple layers of neurons. These layers of neurons make the deep learning model exponentially much faster, allowing it to process millions of attributes at a much faster rate than the conventional machine learning model.
This is the revolutionary advantage of deep learning that has allowed Sophos to defend against every existing threat out there. This information is incorporated into the neural network of Intercept X, where its deep learning model processes millions of threats and identifies, categorizes and blocks the most advanced threats a matter of milliseconds.
With the deep learning technology, Sophos Intercept X grows smarter, stronger and more agile every day. It is not only solving the threats of today, but also keeping an eye for what is coming tomorrow.

Learn why deep learning goes beyond traditional machine learning, and how Sophos has the industry's most  advanced deep learning capabilities.
