Denial of Service Attack Layer: 

Not every attack is focused on viruses, getting users to send their credit card number, or clicking on a malicious link. Often, the objective of the attack is focused on compromising or completely disabling a network. As a device that sits in front of an email server, the Barracuda Email Security Gateway is positioned to stop spammers before they overload an email server. 

With the protection of this layer the barracuda Email security gateway is able to put a restriction on number of emails received per 30 min window.  

  

Administrators can also define IP/NETWORK ADDRESS that need not be checked by the Rate Control feature and will bypass the rate control checks. 

 

Administrators can also apply Rate Control over Outbound Emails as well which is same as the Inbound including 30 min window. 

 

Outbound exemptions can also be defined which will allow the specified email addresses to bypass exemption rule.
